The ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers head into their first final of the season without two heat leaders Josh Bailey and number one Danny Ayres, when they face Cradley in the 1st leg of the National Trophy final at Monmore Green on Tuesday evening.
Bailey is still out with concussion following his crash at Kent last Monday but it hopeful of a return on Friday at Belle Vue in the 2nd leg of the KO Cup Semi Final. Ayes meanwhile, crashed heavily at Coventry yesterday whilst taking a guest booking with Birmingham and the rider and club still await concrete news on his situation. Kevin Jolly moved quickly to book ex-Heathen and Wolverhampton man Max Clegg to cover Ayres absence whilst R/R will operate for Bailey.

Kevin Jolly spoke ahead of Tuesday’s fixture, he said “It is very disappointing to go into a final without two of your top men, but that is speedway and we would never stop out lads from taking guest bookings, speedway is their job and their career and we support them wholeheartedly. The remaining lads will now be even more determined to put in a big performance for Danny and Josh and set up a cracking 2nd leg at Mildenhall on Sunday. We are confident that Max (Clegg) will do an excellent job for us back at his old club and he is in fine form at the moment. Make no mistake we will be giving everything over these two meetings!”
