A virtuoso display from the exciting ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers teenage star Drew Kemp saw another superb win in front of a good crowd basking in the Suffolk sunshine.

Kemp became only the third rider in the clubs 40+ year history to go unbeaten in seven rides! His display well supported by his team mates saw the Fen Tigers rattle up thirteen heat wins in a 59-31 victory. The only visiting rider to win a race was Georgie Wood in heats 4 and 9.

The visitors managed to keep things tight through the first six heats as the Fen Tigers initially stuttered before smoothly clicking through the gears as they left their opposition trailing. Heat six was the catalyst when the fans were treated to another special ride from No 1 Josh Bailey who rode through the pain barrier for the second week running. After missing the gate Bailey first swept round Jason Edwards before chasing down Wood and executing a sweet pass around the final two bends to the win on the line. Not to be outdone both Kemp and the returning Danny Ayres were passing riders with ease the highlight being when they linked up in heat eleven. A super fast gate from Ayres saw him lead with Kemp sweeping round Mark Baseby and Edwards to join Ayres down the back straight, Ayres quickly took control of situation expertly team riding his young partner home. Ayres then completed the afternoons racing with a fine pass around the outside of Tom Brennan to the joy of home supporters.

Team Manager Phil Kirk was impressed with his team’s performance today, he said “Although it was a comprehensive victory there was, I felt, some excellent racing on show and everyone scored good points. Drew (Kemp) was class again today, it is hard to believe he is just fifteen and starting his career such is his composure and decision making during races. Seven ride maximums are not seen every day and this was a special one that will live long in people’s memories. A special mention too should go to Josh (Bailey) who again pulled off some superb passes, whilst being in considerable pain, whilst Danny Ayres return was very positive for the club.

Josh will now sit out tomorrow’s meeting at Kent and will be receiving physio over the coming days so we will need a second guest now fro tomorrow. It will not be easy there as Drew is missing due to exams and of course we have Sam and Jordan out too so the team will have an unfamiliar look about it, we run R/R for Sam with Ryan Terry Daley and Andrew Palmer coming in for Jordan and Drew respectively. We will however go to Kent looking to bring back something from the meeting and such is the spirit around the club I would not back against it”
