KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers announce youngest Team Captain, Mentor role for Club Legend, 2018 Pricing & Season Tickets, Pre-Season events and more ..

The Mildenhall ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers Team Captain for the 2018 season has been named with 16 year old Jordan Jenkins becoming the youngest Captain in the clubs history. Jenkins took on the role late last season in a couple of meetings and promoter Kevin Jolly had no hesitation in offering the youngster the job full time, he said:  “Jordan is mature beyond his years and was a natural in the role when he captained the team late last season. He is so dedicated to the sport and to Mildenhall, he loved the experience last year and was very pleased and proud to accept the job full time this season”

Club legend and the ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers most successful Team Manager Robert Henry will not be completely severing his role within the club as he has agreed to act as a mentor to the youngsters in the Fen Tigers side at home meetings this season whilst being available to support Phil Kirk in his new Team Manager role. Kirk was very pleased that Henry would still be involved and available to seek guidance from. he said “For me personally, it is great that Robert will still be around on a Sunday afternoon, I have learnt so much from him and he has been a fine mentor to me as he will be for our young side. The last couple of years have been about the two of us working together to do our very best for the club we love and it is a great start to the New Year to know that Robert will remain involved”

Mildenhall will have a new announcer for the first time in seven years after it was confirmed that Kevin Long was unable to continue his role at the club after taking over the Manager’s role at The Duke of Marlborough in Somersham. His replacement is none other than the voice of Suffolk Speedway, BBC Radio Suffolk’s Stephen Foster. Kevin Jolly was quick to praise both men, he said: “Kevin was a one off and one of the very best in the business, he had a style all of his own and we have had many enjoyable afternoons in his company at Mildenhall, I would like to wish him well in his new adventures and he knows he will always be very welcome to visit us when commitments allow. Getting Stephen onboard is great though for us, he is a true speedway supporter especially of Suffolk speedway, is well known and very supportive of the club, very popular and extremely knowledgeable. He will be a great asset to the club in the future”

The club can confirm that they WILL be defending the National Trophy they won in such exciting fashion last season, taking their place in the Southern group where they will join Eastbourne, Isle of Wight, Kent and Plymouth. The available dates for fixtures have now been received by the club from the Stadium and the fixture list will start to be compiled over the coming weeks. The club expect to open their doors for the first time in 2018 on Easter Sunday (1st April at 3pm), full details to be confirmed, with Jon Armstrong’s testimonial being held on Sunday 22nd April with an earlier 2pm start time.
