It’s another busy weekend for the ‘KJM/Manchetts’ Fen Tigers with a Saturday evening visit to Loomer Road followed by a highly important National League meeting on Sunday afternoon at Mildenhall Stadium.

Saturday evening should see the completion of the Fen Tigers Quarter Final KO Cup tie with Stoke. The original tie sensationally ended in a tie after the two legs, the Fen Tigers recording three 5-1’s in the final three heats to claim the replay. The 1st leg of the replay saw the Fen Tigers build a commanding lead of 24 points to take with them to Loomer Road where they are looking to finish the job and head into the Semi-Finals where the winners of the Belle Vue / Cradley tie await.

On Sunday afternoon it is back home for another must win National League fixture against the Buxton ‘Hitmen’. Although currently sitting in seventh position in the league the Fen Tigers have meetings in hand on all the teams up to third in the league, and with four league meetings in the next eight days starting on Sunday it is a crucial time in the push for the play-offs.

Kevin Jolly was clear in his mind what is required – he said “I fully expect us to have enough in our locker to see off the challenge of Stoke in the KO Cup, nothing is straight forward in speedway though, so we need to be at our best and must not let complacency kick in. We will be without Connor Mountain on Saturday evening but I feel in Ben Morley have a very good replacement.

Sunday is the start of a week that will define our League season I feel, four meetings will test us fully and we must look to bring some points back from the trips to the Isle of Wight and Plymouth. Recently at Birmingham and Lakeside we were not that far off important away points but we need to step up now and get the away points that will see us into a top four position and into the play-offs where anything can happen”
